The Summit begins with an exciting opportunity to immerse yourself in Cape Town’s local business culture by participating in an offsite Company Excursion. Company Excursions are hosted by a fellow Seed Network member, or a firm affiliated with Stanford alumni. Company Excursions include a tour of the firm’s facilities, meeting its leader(s), and learning about the company's journey.

You will have the opportunity to select one of the following companies to visit. Lunch and transportation to and from the companies is included in registration. More excursions will be announced closer to sign-ups.

 

Lumico

Lumico is a dynamic and innovative digital marketing agency based in South Africa with offices in Stellenbosch and Pretoria. Experienced in videography, photography, design and copywriting, Lumico creates performance-based campaigns that can capture and amplify a brands online presence. SustainSolar

SustainSolar, a subsidiary of SustainGroup, delivers innovative turn-key Solar and Battery Storage (PV and BESS) solutions across Africa. With Head quarters in Cape Town, South Africa, the company designs and implements power systems for commercial and industrial users, rural healthcare centres and off-grid electrification projects.  Since 2018, SustainSolar has successfully installed 99 systems, over 9MWh of storage and delivered to 16 African countries. This extensive track record underscores SustainSolar's commitment to delivering sustainable energy infrastructure, driving technological advancement and empowering communities across the continent.

Taking Care of Business is a globally recognized social enterprise that champions five key programs: Resell, Repair, Remake, Reskill, and Grow Early Childhood Development (ECD).

Our mission is to equip aspiring individuals with the skills and resources needed to unlock their potential and access the economy.

  • Resell: A 2-year program that empowers unemployed mothers to become clothing traders, reducing fashion waste with donations from retailers.

  • Repair: Trains unemployed individuals, mainly men, to repair and sell appliances, reducing e-waste with donated items.

  • Remake: Supports seamstresses to run micro-manufacturing businesses, using donated materials from supply chain partners.

  • Reskill: Offers skills training in areas like finance, entrepreneurship, and life skills for corporate and non-profit organizations.

  • Grow Early Childhood Development (ECD): Provides ECD centers with the tools and support to deliver quality education.

 

Wild Peacock Fine Food Merchants

Since its humble beginnings in 1991 supplying an exclusive range of quality seafood to the Western Cape’s top restaurants, Wild Peacock has been built on personal relationships. Whether it’s customers or suppliers, Wild Peacock continues to put people first. We believe our company’s success hinges on the care and effort that goes into servicing our customers’ needs as well as our dedication to sourcing quality produce based on sustainability, ethical company structures and long-term engagement with reliable suppliers who have become trusted friends.

Over the past decade, exposure to international food trends has seen the South African food industry experience rapid and exhilarating growth. We have kept pace by supplying the finest ingredients to our customers, many of whom have become celebrated bucket-list destinations for global gourmands. We have also taken our knack for sourcing fine produce, once only glimpsed on Masterchef, to home cooks with the Wild Peacock Food Emporium. Established in 2010 in Stellenbosch, it has since won the Eat Out Produce Award for Outstanding Outlet in South Africa. 

 

WomHub

Our work spans education, entrepreneurship, innovation and catalytic financing, with a mission to create inclusive opportunities for women globally. We design and implement programs to support female entrepreneurs, build female engineering and tech talent pipelines, and foster leadership in STEM fields. One of the verticals of operations at WomHub is creating world-class, tech-enabled innovation hubs that provide resources, training, and networking opportunities to drive innovation and sustainable impact. Through a partnership with Cisco, these hubs have the latest technologies including secure fintech labs, full stack observability labs, VR labs and the Junior Engineering Hub, a co-place space for kids. Through these efforts, we are shaping a future where women thrive as leaders and innovators engineering, technology, and beyond.

 

Integrated Aerial Systems/Cloudline

Integrated Aerial Systems (IAS) and Cloudline are on the cutting edge of unmanned aviation and aerial data analytics. Cloudline is an African-founded start-up that designs and manufactures autonomous, solar-powered airships. They are transforming autonomous aerial sensing with breakthrough cost advantages and zero carbon emissions. Its first-of-a-kind airships leverage solar power to unlock endurance and range, while helium lifting gas ensures unrivalled safety and quiet operations.

As a licensed drone service provider, IAS specialises in delivering end-to-end aerial data solutions across diverse industries. By leveraging cutting-edge drone technology and software, IAS simplifies the data collection process and transforms it into actionable insights that optimise operations. This visit will provide a rare opportunity to explore how aerial platforms and sophisticated data processing intersect to solve real-world challenges, including how aerial data is captured, processed, and analyzed to drive efficiency and informed decision-making.

 

Gatehouse Commercials

Gatehouse Commercials is a service production company based in Cape Town, South Africa. We offer end to end production for international clients filming their commercials in Southern Africa. Our clients base ranges from United States, Canada and the UK. We have worked with big brands from Coke, Volvo, Samsung, and LG, to name a few. We arrange casting, locations, crew, production design, everything that allows our clients to arrive and have seamless production. The Film Industry in Cape Town is a vibrant space that attracts some of the biggest television and film productions and Gatehouse is very proud to be part of this great community.

 

Plentify

Plentify connects home appliances to cheaper, cleaner energy. We do this with devices that attach to appliances in your home and control when they turn on and off to make sure the appliance gives you what you want, when you need it, using as little electricity as possible, and timing its use for when clean energy is abundant. Our first product was HotBot, which attaches to electric water heaters, and our latest product is SolarBot, which attaches to inverters which in turn are attached to home solar systems.

 

Zimi Charge

Zimi is an electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure and energy management platform designed specifically for fleet operators. Our target audience includes companies that manage logistics, field service, or corporate fleets. Zimi empowers these businesses to efficiently scale their EV fleets while actively minimising their energy consumption. Our turnkey chargers, ranging between 7kW - 320kW, are  30 -50% more affordable than our competitors and have >98% Charger uptime. Zeus, our software platform, helps us save our customers up to 50% on electricity through smart charging.
